COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AND BBQ

Please join Bent County and Governor Hickenlooper as we celebrate the signing of SB13-210. Governor Hickenlooper will be signing the bill May 24th at 10:00 a.m. on the parade grounds at the Fort Lyon facility. There will be several state legislators as well as other representatives attending from the state and other agencies. This day has taken more than two years to become a reality and is very good news for our region.

There will also be a BBQ luncheon following the bill signing. Please plan to join us and show support for this important regional project.

FREE SUMMER MEALS FOR KIDS SLATED FOR SUMMER MONTHS

Summer is an important time for kids’ and teens’ academic and physical well-being. But without access to regular nutritious meals, they can suffer long-term consequences, both academically and in overall growth and development. Studies show that kids are at a higher risk for both hunger and obesity during the summer months. To meet the needs of local kids and teens, Care and Share Food Bank is once again sponsoring the Summer Food Service Program for children ages 1-18. The program will provide free breakfast and lunch during the summer at the Bent County/Las Animas Community Center May 28 through July 12, Monday through Friday. Breakfast will be served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and lunch between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Snack services will not be provided.

ALL-CLASS REUNION

The All-Class Reunion will be held May 25, 2013 in the Las Animas High School Cafeteria. Social hour begins at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. Hosting the reunion this year will be the class of 1964 to honor the class of 1963′s 50 year anniversary. All Las Animas & Bent County High School alumni are cordially invited and each person who attends is asked to bring a dessert, vegetable or salad.
