3 May 2008 Concert for Life Time: 5:00pm - Location: Lamar Community Building KVAY presents: Featuring the Kory Brunson Band. Opening act: Guitar Hero Competition - Ages 10-18. Tickets - $7 (ages 4-18) $12 (ages 19 and up). Tickets will be available at KVAY studios, or ticketweb.com. Doors open at 5:00. Opening act (Guitar Hero competition) - 5:30 - 6:30. Winner announced - 6:45. Kory Brunson Band takes the stage at 7:00pm. Sponsors: "Susan L Dewitt Foundation for Extended Breath" - "KVAY Radio - Your Valley Country". The guitar hero competition is set to encourage kids vote to send one representative from their school to compete. This encourages kids to come watch their friends. 12 May 2008 Las Animas High School Sports Awards Time: 5:30pm - Location: High School Cafeteria Athletes will be recognized from Fall, Winter and Spring sports. The Las Animas Booster Club will serve roast beef, scalloped potatoes and rolls. Freshman and Sophomore athletes are asked to bring salads or a side dish. 17 May 2008 Bent on Birding Time: 8:30am - Location: John Martin Reservoir, Boggsville Day activities include Dinosaur exhibit at John Martin Reservoir, a petroglyph tour, a Black Rail presentation, Least Tern/Piping Plover tour with Duane Nelson. Evening events at Boggsville, beginning at 4 pm, include a tour of Boggsville, a Raptor presentation with Diane Miller, a Chuckwagon Dinner, a presentation of Kit Carson at Boggsville by John Carson, great great grandson of Kit Carson, and travel to a Black Rail listening area with Duane Nelson.
